The Zionist organization CAMERA - the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America - has published a detailed, scathing attack on the two-hour television program "G-d's Jewish Warriors," created by CNN's Christiane Amanpour as part of a three-part television series entitled "G-d's Warriors."
"The segment on Jews is the most poisonously biased and factually shoddy feature to air on mainstream American television in recent memory," writes CAMERA's Executive Director Andrea Levin.
In the program, Amanpour declares that "the 40-year tug of war over Jerusalem began when Israel bulldozed the Arab neighborhood next to the Western Wall and built a plaza where Jews now pray."
On this Levin commented, "Obviously, the modern battle over Jerusalem "began" 60 years ago when the Arabs attacked in 1948 to destroy the newborn state of Israel, seizing the eastern side of Jerusalem, including the Jewish quarter of the old city. Every Jew was expelled or killed and all synagogues destroyed. Thereafter for 19 years, no Jew could pray at the Western Wall, and Christians had limited access to their holy sites." To set the record straight: saying that Arabs seized the eastern side of Jerusalem in 1948 implies that previously the eastern side of Jerusalem had belonged to the State of Israel. This is not true at all. The U.N. partition resolution used by the Zionists as the basis for their new state designated Jerusalem as an international zone. The Zionists violated this when they took Western Jerusalem as part of their state.
The Jewish quarter of the Old City, although inhabited by Jews, was never Israeli territory at any time before 1967. The Jews who lived there were almost all very religious anti-Zionists, who had no interest in the Zionist efforts to conquer the land.
And yes, the Israelis did bulldoze the Arab neighborhood next to the Western Wall in 1967. To this Levin has no answer, because there was no justification for this wanton destruction of personal property. For hundreds of years Jews had prayed at the Western Wall in the narrow corridor between the Arab houses and the Wall.
