DIVREI YOEL PARASHAS KI SEITZEI
1. The Satmar Rebbe, ZY"A, in Divrei Yoel (Parashas Ki Setzei, p. 146) discusses the prohibition against joining together with the wicked. The Rebbe explains that when a person joins together with r'shaim, he is given over into their hands. However, when a person fights against the r'shaim, he comes close to Hashem, and Hashem helps him. In the merit of the latter type of person, Hashem will eventually redeem us from galus through Moshiach.
When an ehrliche Yid joins together with a rasha, for any purpose at all, the former is effected in several negative ways. On a simple level, he is affected by the heretical philosophies, bad middos, and spoiled character of his acquaintance. Not only does he begin to drift from the Torah path himself, but he infects everyone around him with his new warped philosophies and attitudes. Chazal tell us explicitly: "Al tis'chaber la'rasha," do not join together with a rasha. Chazal are warning us: do not work together with the wicked, even if you think you can change them for the better. In most cases, this is not what will happen; rather, you, the Torah-true Jew, will be influenced by your evil friend.
Sadly, this scenario is seen time and again today with the phenomenon of religious members of Knesset. Although they start out as ehrliche Yidden, they are quickly swept up in the fervor of politics around them, even when this includes spewing heresy, compromising the Torah, and criticizing gedolei Yisroel, all the while claiming to be attempting to preserve traditional and chassidic Judaism. This is clearly in violation of Chazal's teaching, "Al tis'chaber la'rasha." The Torah-true way is to remain as far away from the wicked as possible, not attempting to join them in false dreams of helping Klal Yisroel.
2. The Satmar Rebbe, ZY"A, in Divrei Yoel (Parashas Ki Seitzei, p. 144) explains that although the Eirev Rav were of Jewish seed, their neshamos were the neshamos of Amaleik. This may seem like a strange statement, since Amaleik is the complete antithesis of Yiddishkeit, a nation that, the Torah tells us, is the subject of Hashem's constant war. How can Jewish People be from Amaleik? The answer to this question is, however, quite clear.
Amaleik represents the lowest possible human existence. Amaleik represents a denial of Hashem's existence, R"L. Amaleik is the gematriya of "safeik, doubt." The forces of Amaleik work with all their might to implant doubts regarding emunah into our minds. Our job is to fight these doubts and heretical thoughts. If we let in just a tiny thought, we can fall completely into the grasp of Amaleik. This fact is brought out clearly by what Chazal teach us regarding Amaleik's attack on Klal Yisroel in the Midbar. Amaleik attacked those Jews that the ananei hakavod had spit out. Why were these people spit out? The Rebbe answers: because they had thoughts of Avodah Zarah and heresy. Those Yidden who had just a thought of heresy ended up falling into the hands of Amaleik.
The Satmar Rebbe, ZY"A, states in his introduction to Vayoel Moshe that the Zionist State is the source of all the impurity and sin in the entire world. Every tumah in the world comes from the State of Israel. The Zionists have fallen in the deepest klipos. They have become the true Amaleik, as stated by the Chofetz Chaim and quoted by the Rebbe in Al Hageulah. Everything that represents the antithesis of Torah Judaism, the Zionists stand for, and everything that represents Torah values, they fight against. We must understand that although the Zionists may be Jewish genealogically, their neshamos are from Amaleik, and we must wage a war against them.
3. The Satmar Rebbe in Divrei Yoel (Parashas Ki Seitzei, p. 143) discusses the war of Gog and Magog. The Rebbe explains that although Paroh tried to "deal cunningly" with Klal Yisroel, in an attempt to destroy them, his plan did not display the greatest mental capacity. Haman rose against the Yidden many years later, and he was smarter than Paroh. Smarter still will be the enemies of Hashem involved in the war of Gog and Magog. The Rebbe explains that although this is a very frightening idea, the great evil and cunning of Gog will work to the Jewish People's advantage. Due to the great danger with which they are faced, they will come back to Hashem and correct their aveiros. They will then become closely tied to Hashem Yisborach.
Perhaps we can a gain a better understanding of the threat that we face b'ikvisa d'Mashicha, by analyzing the manifestation of the great chachmah of the forces of Gog and Magog. Let's comparing the threats faced by Klal Yisroel at the above mentioned times in history: Paroh, Haman, and Gog u'Magog.
Paroh desired the spiritual destruction as well as the physical oppression of the Jewish People. He agreed, at Moshe's behest, to grant the Yidden one day of rest in order not to lose his slaves to over-work. Paroh desired to keep the Jewish People around, but only so that he could destroy their neshamos and oppress them in every way. At first Paroh was very sly in his plan, advertising it as a "patriotic duty," even coming to the work site to help out. This front lasted for only a very short while though, and before long, it was clear and open that the only goal of this labor was the enslavement and oppression of Bnei Yisroel.
Haman was smarter. He acted as good friend of the Jewish People and kept his evil plans under wrap much better. Klal Yisroel did not even know of the decree until others had spread the word. Although the Jewish People had erred in the previous years, attending Achashveirosh's feast and being ensnared in idolatry, they awakened now and did teshuvah, averting the evil decree.
The Rebbe explains that we now stand on the threshold of the era of Moshiach. The forces of the Zionists will join with Gog and Magog to fight against Moshiach. The Israeli government and the IDF have now risen up against Klal Yisroel. The Zionists have been the most cunning enemy of Klal Yisroel yet, clearly evidenced by the vast number of Charedi Yidden who have been drawn into these heretical institutions. Despite the vast number of tragedies associated with the phenomenon of Orthodox participation in the Zionist government, army, and elections, so many have failed to awaken from their slumber and realize that heimishe involvement with such evil organizations will simply never lead to anything positive.
This, then, is the great power of the forces of the sitra achara today. The wicked heretics have deluded so many, many minds into believing that it is OK, or even good, to be involved in these types of activities, that anyone who stands up for the truth is immediately written off as a crazy person.
So many "religious" Jews have been fooled by the Zionists, and believe that joining the Zionist military is a service to Klal Yisroel. This is the greatest disgrace! If someone was brought up living a fully secular lifestyle and indoctrinated only with Zionist propaganda since birth, than it is only natural for them to want to join the IDF. They simply do not know any better. However, when supposedly religious boys, with beards and peyos, join the IDF, they are surely held to a much greater account for their actions. Having learned Torah, they still choose avodah zarah. Having been taught the truth about the heresy of Zionism, they choose to violate these awesomely severe prohibitions and throw themselves into the modern day Hitler Youth Corp and fight against Klal Yisroel and Moshiach. These people are surely fully responsible for their acitons. They have no part in the G-d of Yisrael. They have separated themselves from the Jewish Nation and deserve to be totally shunned by the ehrliche Yidden. They should not be greeted with honor upon return from battle, they should be greeted with turned backs and averted eyes, as it is forbidden to look upon the face of a rasha. IDF soliders complain when they are spat upon by charedi Yidden. What they forget is that they, as soldiers in the Israeli army, are murderers and devout servants of avodah zarah. They should take this spitting as a message to do teshuvah. Unfortunately, their stubborn hearts only become more dense.
We must take to heart the teachings of our holy Sages. We must study their words, and through this, we will have the strength to overcome the heretics. We must simply do what is right even when it is the unpopular thing to do. We must show Hashem that we are solely committed to Him and that we are willing to fight for His Honor when necessary.
